Semidry Blotting

Electrophoretic separation of proteins normally takes place in gel-like substances. They are often not susceptible to ligands (e.g. antibodies, lectins,…) of high molecular weight.
Therefore a transportation from the gels to an inert membrane is useful.

In semidry blotting systems the gel is covered by filtering paper impregnated with buffer solution.

Electrophoretic separated bands are transferred to membranes where they are available for specific and general purpose reagents.
